Okay so after about two years of being a bit past it I am BACK IN to Dr Who in a big way. I've listened to some audios and watched stories infrequently but I've caught the bug again in the last month and I can't stop thinking about Dr Who again.
I wouldn't want to say I want to rewatch ALL of my DVDs but I'm planning on rewatching most of them sometime soon. It's so great! You know who was really great? William Hartnell. Guy could do anything, even say the N-Word on national television.
As I'm in R1-land I'm facing the OOP dilemma but once I've got a steady flow of cash which should be soon I'll make it my first priority to pick up three of the four titles that are OOP I do not have (Two Doctors still refuses to go under $100 which is a bit too much for me to stomach). It broke my heart to have learned that more went OOP during this period I didn't really care for the show as much but thankfully I was able to source most of what I didn't have for list price. I've got 33 more Classic Who DVDs to go so I see the light at the end of the tunnel and I just need to hope against hope I can make it there before they surely do an inevitable big purge to make way for further, less special big sets down the line.
I'm also going to be back in to buying these BF audios somewhat regularly - I still have only listened to one (!) of the Tom Baker stories which is ridiculous considering there's several ones now considered very good.
I'm really excited to revisit everything about the show but I just want to say, specifically, my enthusiasm is especially piqued by RTD's Commentary with Katy Manning on the Green Death DVD. I am pretty sure I heard this a few years ago when it first came out but listening to it now after this time and hearing that brilliant, wonderful man talk about why this little show and the Pert and Jo mattered to him in the most sincere fashion imaginable just made my heart swell with happiness.
I recognize this is a lot of rambling so here's a summary:
Doctor Who! Yay!
