The dust jacket is made out of a wax paper and is meant to look and feel like the wrapper of a pack of cards. In addition to images of all the cards (even the rare stickers) there's images of some of the poster and ads for the cards, and an essay about them. The Star Trek book comes with a pack of new cards, made in the style of the old cards.
In looking up that Amazon page, I see that there's a book for the original Star Wars cards now. I'll have to get that one too

They could do a Doctor Who book in this style -- one book for all the bits and bobbles pre-2005 -- I'm sure that would be enough. It'd be ace.
Having looked at some on ebay which are clearly genuine there is another way to spot a fake/repro aside from the poor colour printing. The original issues had the tiny excess 'bobbles' of card where they were attached in a sheet on the sides and bottom. The fakes have these on the corner sections.
