Well, I really really liked that. So glad that we were not let down after last week's superb episode and I'm going to give it a 10 like I did the last. Finally we get the Master that I always knew John Simm could be. The emotional bits actually had me invested, which is something Moffat's writing has fallen flat on at times in the past. Everyone in the main cast was giving it their all, and Capaldi was just as amazing as we all know him to be at this point, possibly more.
Of course there's the oft-used Moffat trope of the companion sort of dying, but not really. But whatever. It was fine.
I liked the stuff with Bill and the stuff with the Masters. All the drama seemed good but something left me cold and I don't know what. I just wasn't invested in the farmhouse stuff. I'm not sure how to rate it.

I thought it was a casserole, some of the bits weren't as tasty but they were overwhelmed by delicious bits - still want Capaldi to stay after this! I hope Bradley's been watching old episodes to get a bit more Hartnell in his Xmas performance...
Wasn't it lovely to get a real old-skool Master with Simm? Got to watch the episode again...
"I could easily kill you now - but I'm determined to have your brain!"
A mixed bag really. The actors were great, the sexy Voord Cybermen reference and the reference to Hurndall's 'the original' did make me a happy fan.
However, the whole companion leaving by disappearing off around the universe with a magic woman for the second time in two years was irritating, as was the Cybermen's upgrade to the Nu Who Cyber look for no real reason.
Overall - still not as bad as the usual two-part conclusions we get and was an enjoyable story.
