The thing is; is that it's so easy to bail on a youtube movie. In the physical media days you gambled on a purchase and then went and sat through it, or you went to a theater and sat through it.
You have to watch a lot of Messiah of Evils before you find a Troll 2 or a Basket Case.
and it's not fun like MST3K, it's like being alone with a turd except for it's in your VCR.
Yeah, thats one of the things that I hate about streaming its so easy to access that its to easy to drop if your not just blown away within 10 minutes. As I'm a hold over from the VHS days I have to finish every movie I start, even if its "Iron Sky" but not everyone is like that.
When Hulu first started they use to have this bar that you could see across the bottom of the movie, like a heart monitor type bar, and it told you the number or precentage (I can't remember) of people that it that far into the movie. So, like 95% made it 10 minutes in before then stopped, for example. On every movie I watched the people that made it to the end was less then like 30%.

I'm ashamed to say that I've never actually seen it. Its in my Netflix list, just never took the time. Guess I really ought to
Thanks! Evveryone has been super nice, I'm just waiting for the sales pitch to begin
Anyway yeah, maybe low rent art theaters is the solution.
Literally building a place where a "scene" can develop.
Yeah, I think thats the key, or at least the direction I'm thinking in. However, it can't be allowed to segment itself to much or it would risk implosion. Can't have queer cinemas and black cinemas and foreign cinemas. Need everything together. Keep the size of the screens small and numerous. At least 6 screens. Can you imagine a little local theater showing 6 different truly indie films? Incredible.
